What is the name of your state (only U.S. law)? Md

Hi. I received a mailer trying to collect a debt from 2004.

I emailed the company on june 3rd to stop sending me any collection mail to my address. I received another one on the mail today.

Are they in violation? Thanks

Email isn't a way to guarantee anyting. You need to send them a snail mail letter telling the to cease and desist.
Further, if the debt is really delinquent from 2004 (and not tolled or otherwise refreshed), it's past SOL anyhow (12 years).
Note, that unless this is a third party collection agency the FDCPA doesn't apply.

Besides, it's only been 11 days. Might not have been enough time to take you off the list by the time the second letter went out.

So I got a company before for a violation where I emailed them to stop calling me on my cell, and they called the next day. $750 settlement over a $35 debt ;)
