When I traveled outside of the country without the other parent, I had notarized a statement WHERE we were expected to be (countries). I had the non-traveling parent have their signature notarized for the when, where and with whom the child was traveling. That was before the 9-11 stuff where they tightened down the rules even more.

I would agree to the passport as long as I had an addendum to the court order that allows a parent to travel with the notarized signatures of the parent staying home AND have a time frame where the non-traveling parent must deliver such document. See, if I bothered to renew my DD's passport, I probably still couldn't get a timely signature from dad. I would have to make sure that I was in court, in front of the judge, with ample time to get that signature.

I've been trying to get a passport for over a year now. Before all this litigation took place, I had wanted to take our daughter on a Disney Cruise. I won't get to now, because of other expenses, but i'd still like to for the future.

Ex use to agree that it would be fine, but never went with me or signed the paperwork. Now, I doubt he would approve it. I want to apply still, based on the affidavit you can submit on special circumstances, but I think I will wait since we're in litigation right now.

There's always next summer for the cruise. Heck, I can't even take her out of state right now.
Ask the judge to force him to sign or the judge for an order permitting you to get a passport.

With everything else going on, do you think a judge would get annoyed by this request? Our temp hearing lasted for over 4 hours and she looked annoyed with that.

Do you want a passport for your children or not? Will dad sign, or not?

Just wanted to update this(and I’m not sure why this thread got closed in the first place).

You all gave me a lot of food for thought, and I’ve been contemplating this since the weekend. While I’m not really sure why it would be an issue for me to hold the passport if The Ex:rolleyes: has no plans on doing something “untoward” with it, I do see that I have been, at the very least, coming across as unreasonable on this. Still have HUGE trust issues with The Ex:rolleyes:, but nothing that I can pinpoint in a manner to “justify” not giving the OK for a passport.

I’ve printed the form from the state department and am filling it out today, and will have it notarized tomorrow.

Of course, when I called to ‘splain this to her, she still wanted to argue about it:rolleyes::rolleyes::rolleyes:

Okay good for you on the passport. As for the trust thing -- sometimes you have to give trust in order for there to be trust.
