So, a third party jumps to conclusions, gets all worked up, and claims discrimination, only to find out that his story is incorrect.

What else is new?

no, they still haven't register at the school, and they only have gotten this far because the father contacted the center, not the mother.

Right - so, no discrimination. Maybe somebody made a mistake...or maybe the system is working as it should.

Whatever happened to the good old days, when kids speaking a foreign language learned English by total immersion? My older brother went to K speaking absolutely no English. He learned darned quick. As did most kids in those days.

Best approach, IMO.

That's truly some wisdom, stealth. It has been proven that total immersion IS the most effective way to learn a foreign language. I know, because when I wasn't to learn Spanish, I could have read books, or listened to tapes, or did a computer program, but instead I moved to Mexico for a summer. I now speak better Spanish than most of my students spoke English. And it's because you sink or swim.

I don't think that has to do with OP's case, but it's true of life in general!

I know, HL... Just all the requirements and accommodations got me to thinking about how it worked for my brother and others I know. We were both bilingual before he went to K, just not in English. I learned English when he did, since at that point, my parents switched to English only except for when the grandmothers were there (and Church). So I guess I got total immersion, too... just differently.
