you're right, it sucks, and it isn't fair, and your dad is an a$$. There is no way around it, you will either have to wait until you are independent by age or circumstance, or find other ways of financing your education. You might want to consider a student loan at a community college (way less expensive), get your core classes done there and then apply for FAFSA later when you are able to apply as an independent.

If your parents are divorced that could be helpful to you...I have a few friends that receive financial aid because their parents are divorced even thought their parents are perfectly capable financially to pay for it. I have other friends that can't get financial aid because their parents AREN'T divorced but CAN'T pay the bills. Crazy.

I found this link...I think it is just for Washington but it could be helpful? Maybe there is one for your state...?

I also found a few other links to college sites that have exceptions for the parental financial information requirement...your financial aid office HAS to be able to do something to help you:(

Thank you for the link. I will look into it at my school's financial aid office. I hope it works! :) (or that they tell me where I could go for "dependency override")
And concerning getting married just to get financial aid: it makes me sick to know that people just get married for that. There is far more to marriage than just paying the bills. It's no wonder that this society is deteriorating like it is. No one has respect for the true definiton and meaning behind what marriage is for. Marriage is a sacred bond between spouses and should NEVER be taken lightly. I'm tired of seeing so many families being torn apart by divorce and adultery (my family is no exception). How are our children supposed to grow up with a sense of meaning and purpose? Not to mention that they will be confused as to why marriage is sacred or why it exists at all! The bond and love between parent, spouse and child is something to cherish...and I have lost that love...
