Dispute over dental bill

I am currently disputing a charge($3200.) to my VISA by a dentist who performed work to replace 4 crowns on my front teeth. What happens if my bank sides with me? With the dentist? I refused to allow the dentist to complete the work due to the fact that the crowns do not fit properly. Can the dentist legally claim the entire fee? What other rights do I have?
I live in New Jersey.
