n July '96, I began taking a birth control shot called Depo-Provera. I took the shot every 3 months until May of '97, when I stopped. I was told, prior to getting my first shot, that after I took my last shot I would be able to conceive, usually within 18 months. It has now been almost 36 months since my last shot, and I have since discovered that I no longer am able to conceive because I don't ovulate. I have a child, so I know that I was able to get pregnant BEFORE the shots. I was NEVER told about this, and it wasn't until a year ago that I found out the shot "may cause lack of return to fertility". It was not stated in the original pamphlet I received prior to the shot that this could happen. My husband and I are desperate to have a child, but because of this shot, we are unable to. And I know lots of you are saying that there is no proof that the Depo-Provera shots are causing this, and I might agree, except for the fact that I have received many emails from women who are now infertile after taking the Depo-Provera. I would like to file a lawsuit against the pharmecutical company. Do I have a case?

My response:

I would recommend that all of you women who have had trouble with Depo Provera, contact Carmen Sessions, a lawyer out of Columbia, South Carolina. She says there may be a litigation going on against the Upjohn Company. Her e-mail address is [email protected]

Tell her you would like a questionaire form to fill out about your experince and she will mail you one. If enough people do this, the chances of litigation are greater.
