I would like to add- if you have to ask on a legal forum if something should be reported, the answer is probably yes.

You assumed incorrectly.

The step parent, as stated above, is a legal stranger to the child. What you did was akin to picking a random person off the street and telling them of the incident.



This is not a certification of guardianship.



Then I recommend you ask the child parents to meet with you in school. If the parents ask why you go to this length, tell them.



Then ONLY ask for dad.
I was a step parent for 3 years until I adopted. I had no problem attending Parent/Teacher conferences alone (wife/real mother worked). I was accepted as if I were the biological father. This, along with subsequent posts would show you to be wrong Cyjeff.

Once again, Willyjo assumes that HIS experience is binding on all other situations.

Just because that's how it worked for YOU, does NOT mean that it's going to be exactly the same for everyone else. Different states, different school districts, even different schools, and different families, aren't required to do things Willyjo's way just because that's what HIS experience has been.
