Actually you would, we do not like people who misrepresent themselves. You could have asked the question in a gender neutral way rather than lying.

Bottom line, you know whether or not your ex can realistically buy you out...or you should if you have properly done your research. If she can, then remember that if you haggle over things to the point where the house gets sold, then you are going to have closing costs and no guarantee that the house will sell for more than you have already been offered. I have seen many people neglect to consider closing costs and the fact that homes often do not sell at full appraised value. Make sure that you do not cut off your nose to spite your face.
