It's very possible that my employer will be offering severence packages to the majority of it's employees. Only keeping a select few. Those that they have chosen to keep will not be offered a severence package. The catch, those that they have chosen to keep have not been asked if they would like to continue their employment.
Some of these positions are actually demotions for certain individuals, but they will be guaranteed a job.
So in short, the company will offer severence packages to employees it has chosen not to keep while they've decided to keep certain individuals without asking if they want to stay. Those they have decided to keep will not be offered a severence package.
My question, legally do they have to offer everyone a severence package?
