I second that motion. Ignition kill switch is good idea too.
The Dept. of Elder Affairs will give you the number for Adult Protective Services in the county that you reside. Get out the phone book, look in the gov't section, find Dept. of Children ) and Families(DCF). If there is not a specific phone number for APS, call the DCF number. Once you make that call TOMORROW, an investigator will be out within 24 hrs. (state statute). Now, the earliest this can get rolling is Thursday. Do let APS and the PD know that you have locked up dad's truck. I had to stash that gentleman's car at my apt. and did inform APS what I did. There was no problem. The evaluations are not as horrible as you may think they are. The ones I have observed were very well done and handled in a harmless manner for the evaluee.
The APS investigation will be pretty painless. Sure, your dad will be upset. That's just another sign of his incompetence. Please have your mother evaluated at the same time rather than go through this with her at another time. You don't want your mother awarded control over your father's person and property should your father want her to. Your father does have the right to request this. Your mother will receive official notice of any proceeding that APS pursues. And, your father does have the right to appear at his competency hearing. The court does want the potential ward to appear when possible.
I understand the volatile situation. Things will get better. It takes 6-8 weeks for all this. Time is of the essence. Avoid arguments with dad. That will only fuel his fire. Things are pretty hot now.
