What is the name of your state (only U.S. law)? OR
After a dui conviction in 2007 DMV says must have SR22 until 2011 -which is 3 years after the 1 year suspension is over. When does the DUI drop from your insurance? Do they follow the same as the DMV-also 3 years after suspension is over? What is the name of your state (only U.S. law)?

some companies use 3 years and some use 5 years.
In general the good ones use 5 years and high risk uses
3 years. The SR-22 is only a form to the state proving
coverage. The filing fee i paid was $20. there are alot
of companies that that will charge $1000 for it because
they can.

Each insurance company is different. For most companies, you will be surcharged for 3 years from the conviction date ( the guilty date, not the date of the ticket). But you will be ineligible for discounts for up to 5 years.

Actually, they typically surcharge you for 3 years starting at the next policy renewal date after your conviction.

Yes, you're correct. At the next renewal. Companies don't add or remove points midterm, unless, coincidentally, you make a change to your policy at the same time, or shortly after, points are at their anniversary date.

Thanks for catching that.
