hey taper, you'll be fine. you know there are 300,000 DUI three-time offenders in California! many times they do not fall under felonies unless you harm something or someone. I had my first in 2000 and worked for 6 companies up until 2008. Then my company in 2008 was purchased and I had another background check in 2009. So that's 7 companies, 7 background checks and everytime was hired....

but I wouldnt get hired to drive for the place.

I am currently in the ARD program in Philadelphia. According to what I was told Expungement is automatic upon completion of ARD program:approximately 6 months. Upon completion your record should appear clean (i.e. no convictions). Only law enforcement has access to your D.U.I. arrest.
I finished ARD in Phila this past May after one year probation. My PO told me the same thing - that expungement is automatic. He said it might take up to 8 months & that I will get a notice of it in the mail. He gave me a paper with a phone # to call if I don't hear anything by the end of January 2010. I don't see how an attorney can add anything to that. A criminal record check by an employer should then show up clean. I don't expect that anything is ever "expunged" from what law enforcement can see. Also a background check run through the FBI with my fingerprints will no doubt show the arrest, whether expunged or not. And then there's PennDOT which will show the record for ten years.

why are we resurrecting a dead thread?
:confused::confused:
Because it has relative information that probably hasn't changed since the last post. This is the only message board I know that frowns on bringing back old threads. If you don't care to read, then ignore and don't respond. :rolleyes:

Thanks mate, I think I should be OK and I definitely won't be having another one to strap me down further.

This is not true. The best anyone can do is run a hit via the NCIC.

The FBI keep a file on you that you can request. that said, if you went to get a gun and since have not been convited of any crime nothing is going to hit back on you. Expunged means just that gone.

I am sure if you applied for a job with the FBI.... now you might have some issues... but no one has acess to your file but the FBI and you. I am sure some high level security clearence would be issues.. but normal every days job's they can not obtain any info about what was a charge that was dismissed.

no problem. good luck.

as for resurrecting dead threads.....welcome to the internet. it's chocked full of old/dead information. like pages loaded in the 1980's. Unfortunately, there is not one gamemaster and old information, ummm, like old books, are still very useful to the population.

Expungement only applies to criminal record

I am currently in the ARD program in Philadelphia. According to what I was told Expungement is automatic upon completion of ARD program:approximately 6 months. Upon completion your record should appear clean (i.e. no convictions). Only law enforcement has access to your D.U.I. arrest.
Unfortunately, you are only half correct, as the expungement will clean your criminal conviction, but try getting auto insurance after a DUI - your rates will skyrocket. When an insurance agent runs your driver's license to review your driving history, the DUI WILL show up even after the expungement - not fair in my viewpoint since expungement should mean expungement, but that is the case today in PA. So, it's not only law enforcement who can view your driving history. It's all about money... My advice is to keep paying your premiums, and let the insurance company do their due diligence to catch this, and don't try to switch carriers because they will certainly catch this. In this era of technology, it's not that hard to catch. I am not 100% certain on the 7-year period as someone else posted, as I have heard 3 years from some insurance carriers. It's ultimately based on the risk they assess you at.
