Interesting, no the officers never once asked me to submit to a breathalyzer and I thought that was bazaar.
They may have felt that given your unusual behavior that you might have also had drugs on board.

As I said they asked me to do the field tests and I tried but as i was hyperventilating and shaking I wasn't able to complete them.
And, to them, it very well could have appeared that you were too impaired to complete them. You can hire an attorney to argue otherwise, but if the chemical test comes back positive for alcohol at or above the equivalent of .08, a plea deal is likely to be in your future.
