And lastly, I have googled for information on class action lawsuits in the past, but the only information that comes up is related to a lawsuit that was filed a long time ago, and the guy lost. Anyway, I have been hassled by my own doctor for bringing up information that I found on google - when I was bringing up my health concerns and what I'd read about the drug. "You can't trust what you read on the internet, I'm the professional."

I don't trust anyone anymore.

i've read other threads on this board in the past hour or two. all of the 'senior members' are derisive, self-important jerks. there is no defense for mocking a cancer patient, or telling someone with a disability/ herniated disc to 'stop being so lazy'

this board must attract sociopaths

Effexor Withdrawal
Symptoms and Strategies

Be prepared for the effexor withdrawal symptoms by learning techniques and strategies for dealing with the pain.

Effexor withdrawal symptoms, along with paxil withdrawal symptoms, have truly set the standard for pain and suffering from an antidepressant.

Here's a few things to keep in mind about effexor withdrawal symptoms:

* Severe withdrawal symptoms can develop from patients on any level of dosage, so if you're taking a low dose don't think you're necessarily safe.

* Effexor withdrawal symptoms can easily last two months or more, and some people don't feel back to normal even after a year of discontinuation.

* Because effexor has a half-life of about five hours, withdrawal symptoms can develop from missing only one dose.

(The half-life refers to the amount of time it takes the body to metabolize one-half of the drug.) Five hours is a frighteningly short half-life for a drug of this nature. It almost guarantees problems.

* One Harvard study found 78% of patients experienced withdrawal symptoms from discontinuing effexor xr making it the only drug worse than paxil in this regard.

AND THE LAST THING I'M GOING TO POST FOR NOW

i've been reading so much information in the past couple days but i still feel lost and dizzy. I don't have the strength to put everything together right now. I feel like if I call an attorney they'll reject my case straight off the bat because I'm poor and drug companies usually win these kind of battles.

I am feeling like crap, yeah. I am normally not crazy or defensive. I cant see a doctor because I have no insurance. I can't even tell my own family about this because it embarrasses me to be in this state. Crying jags, nausea, feeling hopeless. I have never been like this in my life. I'm reading effexor support group websites and its people complaining of the same things. I will take my case there.

In 2 hours time you have managed to create chaos, it is now time to get a grip.

Please answer the following quesitons.
In what state do you live?
How old are you?
Why are you taking Effexor?
Who is prescribing it to you, a psychiatrist?
What other drugs have you tried in the past?
Have you been hospitalized or evaluated?
Who is supervising your withdrawl?
Have you ever had any adverse durg reactions?
What Rx do you currently take?
What other OTC, recreational, herbal, diets?
What do you mean by stage II hypertension?
What is your BP? Are you keeping a chart?
When were your last labs done?
How do your know your HR is 140 when resting? Are you measuring your BP then, what is it then?

ha, thanks for the well-intended response.

In 2 hours time you have managed to create chaos, it is now time to get a grip.

Please answer the following quesitons.
In what state do you live?

MI

How old are you?

24

Why are you taking Effexor?

Depression

Who is prescribing it to you, a psychiatrist?

A psychiatrist, yes

What other drugs have you tried in the past?

I used to be on Concerta combined with effexor but discontinued because I felt it was making my heart problems worse

Have you been hospitalized or evaluated?

Yes

Who is supervising your withdrawl?

Me, and my boyfriend. I have no health insurance anymore. I had to taper down my dose last week due to lack of health insurance and am now going it alone with no medication.

Have you ever had any adverse durg reactions?

No. Not besides this.

What Rx do you currently take?

I was taking 300 mg Effexor and my doctor switched me to Cymbalta last year (structurally the same drug). I was taking 90 mg of Cymbalta before I quit.

What other OTC, recreational, herbal, diets?

None

What do you mean by stage II hypertension?

All pharmacy machines that read your blood pressure tell me I have stage II hypertension! (I have confirmed this by going to several machines in several different stores. Not a great legal grounds for my claim, but I can't go to a doctor right now about it because of the lack of health insurance.)

What is your BP? Are you keeping a chart?

My blood pressure, the last time I checked a few days ago, was 170/110. I am not keeping a chart.

When were your last labs done?

Around a year ago

How do your know your HR is 140 when resting? Are you measuring your BP then, what is it then?

I am using a stopwatch, counting my pulse for 6 seconds, and multiplying that number by ten to get my heart rate.
