Can parents sue their children for their own support (housing, medical bills, etc.)? Or, do elderly parents have a right to a portion of their children's income for their own support?

My response:

Excellent question. It's the "old reverse support" routine.

Yes, in an Emergency situation, and in limited circumstances, a parent may file for an Order of Protection asking the court for support from an adult child.

There must be extenuating circumstances, such that without an Order, the parent could end up on the street. The court will also inquire about, and make an Order concerning, Public Assistance programs being utilized by the Parent, and other Government programs, before an Order of Support is issued against an adult child.

These are rare Orders, indeed. But, if you feel it is absolutely necessary, and all other Public Assistance programs are of no help then, by all means, seek legal assistance as soon as possible.
