Can I copy my personel file? Can the company i work for deny me this request?

Ca Counsel

In California, the Labor Code requires an employer to make a copy of your personnel file available to you "upon reasonable request." You might try writing a nice letter asking for access and the right to make a copy.

I am also a CA attorney at law. Your employer has to provide you a copy of your personnel file, but only of those documents that you have signed. You have no right to a copy of the entire file. However, you can inspect only, in their office, your entire file. That inspection has to be set up by the HR dept. Contact the HR dept for both reqeusts.
