I would buy her all the temp tattoos she wanted. I have no objection to it. I am not opposed to tattoos, as I have several myself. I just think 14 is too young to make a life long decision . She can't figure out what she wants to do after high school yet, so how can she be at the mindset to get a tattoo. Both decisions will effect her life forever. I told her before if she wanted one when she was 18 I would take her to get it. I tried to explain to her that not all people and businesses take kindly to workers who have tattoos that show.

Very true. Where I work, no visible tats, no more than two piercings per ear, no facial piercings visible. And no "unnatural" hair color. I have employees who have to wear long sleeves year-round to hide their tattoos. <shrug>

While my oldest has talked about it, he hasn't done anything yet. They both know that I won't pay for it, nor will I allow it before 18. Oldest has thought about it - he's 19. Youngest has gone as far as she's willing to with a belly button piercing.

Before she did that (at 15), I made her research how to care for it properly, healing time, and what the consequences could be if she didn't care for it, as well as find licensed shops locally. I have to say that the guy who did hers was very professional and very clean. I had to sign a release, both of us had to show ID, he showed us all of the equipment he would use (and EVERYthing was a single use "tool" in sterile packaging), and they insisted that she come back in three months (or sooner if there was any unusual redness, or any pus-y discharge, etc.). Really, very professional.

While I wasn't a total fan of the idea, I know that they can get it done on the Boardwalk w/o any release or ID - and little sanitary care. I figured it was better to give in on the piercing from a reputable place, rather than risk her going to some sketchy shop at the shore. Yet another hill not to die on. ;)

As for the eyeball piercing. Ew. Just.... EEEWWWW!

Actually it is eyeball tattooing. They have had reports in Cleveland of it happening -- and normally being done in backyards and not by professionals. This "procedure" would require an actual eye doctor to do it in order for it to be done properly.
