You really don't know how silly you are, do you, samsam88? This is a bunch of nonsense.

Ok so people call women whores all the time. Some are and some aren't. In order to prove a defamatory case how can you prove you AREN'T a whore? I mean if I'm called a whore how do I prove to a judge that I'm not? Because a person who loses their virginity without being married is a whore to some people. A woman who has a baby out of wedlock is a whore to some people. What people feel makes a woman a whore varies. Wouldn't it be my word against theirs? And I know of people all the time that say "she's a whore" and gossip gossip gossip all the time. So are you saying every woman that's called a whore or has rumours passed around that they are one can sue for defamation?

samsam88 - Yes, a lot of women are called whores, and yes, a lot of women could probably sue for defamation. The problem with this, as with any defamation suit, is PROOF. It is harder to prove a negative (ie. I am not a whore) than to prove a positive (ie. I am a whore). Plus it is expensive to sue.

Thanks for keeping the forum focused and providing a succinct answer to my question.

Although this woman is a complete pain in the backside, it doesn't appear something worth pursuing. People tend to wash out in the laundry of time and I expect she will do the same. It just would have been nice to expose her for the liar she is. I'll move forward regardless.
