Obviously ex thought cs was too much. What kid needs one grand a month? And maybe dad was tired of you using the money to pay your mortgage. You are getting 18 years of your mortgage payment paid off. And once your kid moves out YOU still live in the home. So in this case it's almost obvious the money is for your benefit.
1. You do not know what her mortgage is.
2. I highly doubt you would be singing the same tune if your hubby was an *X*.

Go away now.

I don't know about the states that other posters live in, but where I live you can't get a decent apartment for under about $750.00 a month. (One bedroom)

As far as new spouses go--I have a lot of admiration for women (and men) that take up the tough job of stepping. Kudos to you! For those of you that have a problem with spouse's money going to ex for support you need to take that up with the husband and quit being so angry at the ex spouse. If the ex is doing her job, and the money is going for the benefit of the kids, stay out of it! If you have a problem having a hubby or wifey that has to pay support, don't marry that person. Find someone who doesn't have the responsibility of paying support.
