In 1993 in the state of North Carolina, I was convicted of a felony; desecration to a grave site, and was told that after 10 years of the conviction I would be able to own and purchase rifles and shotguns again. Well, to my surprise, I cannot.
I was wanting to inquire about this matter with anyone who may help. Will an expungement of this 15 year old conviction allow me to have my firearm rights re-enstated? Will the fact that I am currently employed by the U.S. Army and serving in Iraq help me at all?
I mean really, they will allow me to carry a weapon in the military but not allow me to own or possess one? Can any one help?
