A closed case can be re-opened, so there is never any such thing as "over and done with" unless the SOL has passed.I just don't understand why it isn't closed lol just frustrating because I want this gone and to me suspended means it can still come back
Every agency establishes their own policy or criteria for a case status. There is nothing magical or even final about a particular label placed upon the case. The only difference that might exist between a "closed" case and one that is still technically open might be it's availability as a reviewable public record. Open investigative files are usually exempt from such scrutiny whereas closed cases may not be (unless they are protected due to some other statute such as sex crimes, domestic violence, juvenile involvement, etc.)
