I filed child support with the child support offices in California in April of 05. I constantly received letters saying they can not locate the non-custodial parent. Fast forward to now, it's basically the same although he is an entertainer. he does not have a physical address because he lives from place to place but I am told in order for my support order to be put in place, I have to have him physically served which is near impossible. I have 4 children that have gotten no support. I am now trying to do it through my divorce which I started on my own and it is another hassle because I don't really know what I am doing with the divorce. I am kind of stuck on the paperwork. My question is how can I get support if possible without physically serving him? He is a rolling stone, drug addict and I will never catch him but he gets plenty of money via royalties. He has had another child out of wedlock younger than all mine and this child was able to get a support order in place. Help. My oldest will be 18 in 2 years and dad seems to be getting away with never being held responsible for paying support.

April of 2009---actually less than two years ago......how do you get that you took this action six years ago?

Try your local child support agency. They're typically in the Family Law court building. While you're at it, you might be able to sort through the divorce paperwork there as well.

However, your "partner" still needs to be served. You can't do that. An adult over 18, other than you must serve him.

Did you miss the part where she filed for support through the state agency? They can't locate him to serve him.

However, OP seems to be laboring under the erroneous assumption that being successful in getting an order equates to getting support. And the two are not the same.

Child support should be handled in the divorce action but he still needs to be served for that too. You really should get a lawyer involved; he may need to be served by publication.

There are FLFs and SHCs available at most, if not all California Family Court Buildings.

Perhaps the CA FTB might be able to track him down if he files a tax return?

Perhaps since he's published- ie. collecting royalties, she could "google" him and see where he might be playing in order to serve him?

Perhaps she can look up the "other" order for CS if it's not sealed, or perhaps she knows the address of the partner's girlfriend. Perhaps he visits her?

Taking some action is better than taking no action at all. Right?

I have called the CS on many occasions to have him served at venue's but they always say they need time to prepare the paperwork! I just don't get them.
