Not to mention that it's unlikely that you would have been identified by name. I have no direct experience with HIPAA complaints either, but I do know that few if any Federal agencies give out the name of the person who made the complaint unless the complaint cannot be investigated without that information. Which is rare.

Bottom line: There is a slight possibility that you were fired in retaliation for the HIPAA complaint but you are very, very far from having a slam dunk case. Report what happened to the OCR, file for unemployment and let them handle it.
