I like your last suggestion. Just like consumers share information on businesses, businesses can benefit from sharing information on consumers.

I agree that winning a judgment in court can often be the easy part. Collecting on a judgment is a whole different ballgame. :)

I’m satisfied with my 9-5 job and I always get paid. No need to worry about taking a deadbeat to court, win, and still can’t collect a paycheck.

“Cash only” is an awfully tricky way to run a business. You limit your customer base, for one thing, and, unless you collect the cash payment prior to doing the work, you run into the same problem of a customer not paying. Taking the customer to court would still be necessary.
