What is the name of your state? Kentucky

I had posted a retirement/employment question previously with in the context of child support. However, I ran across a post today with a posted response/comment that struck my attention as follows: "Courts take a dim view of a parent who is deliberately unemployed....." ?

I am eligible to retire within a year or so with a 20 year pension for hazardous duty. Would the courts view my situation as me being a deliberately unemployed person?

I would like to apologize in advance if I posted in the wrong area. Any knowledge/fact would be appreciated.

Thank you,

I doubt very seriously that a judge would consider retirement as deliberately unemploying or underemploying yourself, however, I wouldn't go expecting your child support order to decrease either.

It's a bit of a wobbler.

Thank you for the fast response and it is appreciated. I do have 1 question and I do not ask this to begin bantering over issues. However, I am curious why you would deduce that I, as the other parent, would be paying child support? Truth be told, I am not the one paying child support though I would happily do if the roles were different to benefit our son. Nevertheless, my ex (wife) spouse is paying me.

If I miss read, I apologize in advance. As I said I do not wish to argue, just curious.

Yeah, you read too much into that. As with anything, if it doesn't apply to you, don't bother with it. If you're not the one paying support, then that information doesn't apply to you. If you are, then it does apply to you. However, many people read these boards from both sides of the table....

Do I care whether you are the one paying or not? Not really. I simply answered the question.

I am not authorized to speak on Court Clerk's behalf...that said, I'm gonna. :p

It's because you have more than one thread going on, and your info is split between them. Nobody is going to go trolling for extra info that you could/should have included in your post.

Assumptions are made, at least in part, because we have a general idea at what folks are trying to achieve...and we are, as often accused, slightly jaded. ;)

Whenever human beings see any opportunity to lower their CS, they try. ;)

You are correct. It's all in how you read the posts. You did answer my question pertaining to the employment issue and thanks for that.

And again, thanks for taking the time out to read and respond to my post. have a good day.

Again, I'm not going to argue and you are correct that I have a few posts pertaining to cs and 1 on custody. As with anyone here, the later is my priority. I came here seeking facts on issues with no other agenda.

I see some on here that may be "jaded" but honestly, if I were sitting reading 3/4's of the crap and responding to the best of my abilities to it. Whose to say i wouldn't be jaded also. So, it is what it is**************

I'm new.new to divorce/custody/support the whole 9 yards. If I post wrong or in the wrong area for that I apologize in advance and will strive to do better in the future.

Thanks for the info.

Exchange issue

I assume I am posting this in the correct area**************.

My sons mother (my ex) called this evening asking if she could have our son tonight for an overnight and she would trade Saturday with me. I agreed and took our son to her house. When I arrived, I got our son out of his car seat and proceeded to the front door. I rang the bell. A male that I have never seen or known about (not that I care) answered the door. I asked to see our sons mother and he stated that she ran to the store and would be back in 10 or so mins, He proceeded to say that he would take our son till she got home. I told him thanks but no thanks and proceeded to leave. This person used some language as I was leaving because I stated, I didn't know him and I wasn't going to leave our son with him. I also stated I exchange with his mother and no one else. I left and came back home. The ex has called me yelling saying she had just run to the store for a minute. I told her we had an agreement on time, etc and I was not ever going to leave our son with someone I did not know. She told me I would be hearing from her atty.

Question: We share 50/50 and I did agree to the trade. But, legally, did I do anything wrong that can be used against me regarding custody?

Thanks for any information. My state is Kentucky

Did you wait around for ten minutes to see if she came back? Or did you just leave? Did you go back when she called you?

Ohiogal, No I didn't wait around ten mins, I just left. I didn't want to put our son in the middle of drama that was starting.

When she called me and was yelling/threatening me with attys, etc...no I did not take him back.
