What is the name of your state? Hawaii

The apartments in my building are owned by individuals. The head of security asked me this morning if I had noticed a lot of traffic in and out of an apartment on my floor. I have noticed this in the past six weeks or so. Apparently, the woman renting is well known to management. She has been busted twice by the vice squad for running gambling out of two different apartments in my building. She is now in a third, on my floor. My question is, even though apartments are owned separately, can building management ban this person from renting in our building? This is a nice, safe building with security guards and keyed elevators. The management has notified the owner of the apartment but nothing has been done as yet. Thank you

**A: ok, don't you then live in a condominium where there is a HOA? Are you a tenant or an owner?

Thanks for your reply. I'm a tenant. I just spoke to the building manager. He has spoken to the owner of the apartment. According to the manager, he cannot do anything without proof, "catching them red handed". In fact, he told me that a few years ago the police went into a unit, found gaming machines, but because they were unplugged, they were considered "legal". So this is one of those situations where the criminal gets the upper hand if they know all the tricks. The manager told me that they encourage better screening of prospective tenants. The building is only 16% owner occupied. As of now the security guards are keeping a close eye on the unit and I guess that is all that can be done. Too best for the rest of us honest folks.

**A: that is pure BS? Gambling in Hawaii is illegal period. And gambling devices are illegal even if plugged in.

**A: send a certified rrr letter to your landlord with your complaints and cite your lease provisions and the Hawaii Residential L/T Code.

Thanks for the info. I am going to notify my landlord. Also was told by the manager that the tenant of this apartment told the owner that she was a "nurse" and would be seeing a lot of "patients". I will be having shoulder surgery on Monday and will be out of work for a couple of weeks and will have plenty of free time to make phone calls to various agencies. I will post to this list again with any results I get. Again, thanks for your time.

**A: Yes, uou have learned a little Hawaiian.
Nurse=hooker and Patients=hookee.

If she really is a nurse, can she provide her Hawaii state registration card and license as a LPN or RN?

And Opala nui loa to you too.
Many people think that Mahalo means trash in Hawaiian because on the trash cans the word Mahalo is printed in large letters. Mahalo means thank you and opala means trash.

Here is one of the most important Hawaiian phrases that a tourist MUST know!!!
Ua pili anei keia 'ohune i ke komo hawele li a me ka holo wawae ma kahakai?

BTW, that translates to:
"Can wearing a thong and running on the beach cause a rash like this?"

I saw you in my dreams
We were walking hand in hand
On the white sandy beach of Hawaii
We were playing in the sun
We were having so much fun
On the white sandy beach of Hawaii
The sound of the ocean sooths my restless soul
The sound of the ocean rocks me all night long
Those hot, long summer days
Laying there in the sun
On the white sandy beach of Hawaii
The sound of the ocean sooths my restless soul
The sound of the ocean rocks me all night long
Oh last night in my dream
I saw your face again
We were there in the sun
On the white sandy beach of Hawaii

With fond memories of Bruddah Iz

I was on the Islands when IZ died. All the radio stations played his songs all day in tribute. My brother was a manager at the Naniloa and was lucky to meet and know IZ. Very impressive person..... and a heck of a loss to the Islands.

"Listen to the story of Johnny Mahoe
Pride of the hometown, number one school boy
Never got in trouble, always kept his nose clean
so when the news hit the town, nobody could believe
what happened to Johnny Mahoe

You see Johnny started hanging with the neighborhood thugs
Boys wearing colors, the ones dealing drugs
Initiaiton's over, Johnny's part of the gang
Fighting for his colors, playing with his bang bang
Johnny Mahoe

Why hang around with the wrong crowd
Why let them poison your mind
It's okay, it's okay, turn and walk the other way
You don't want to end up like Johnny Johnny
Johnny Mahoe

One day there was a clash between the blue and the red
When the fighting was over, Johnny lay dead
A single rose stands alone upon Jonny's grave

Think nothing would have happened
If Johnny Mahoe just turned and
walked the other way
Just walked the other way"

If anyone wants to hear one of his best songs..... used in the movie "Joe Black", go to:

I will never forget Iz's funeral, the chant that was performed gave me "chicken skin". Iz's music never fails to cheer me up. I am a transplant from NJ, and when I leave Hawai'i, as I must some day, for the price of Paradise is too high, I will take the muscic with me.

Hawai'i Aloha

E Hawai`i e ku`u one hänau e
Ku`u home kulaïwi nei
'Oli nö au i nä pono lani e
E Hawai`i, aloha e

E hau`oli nä `öpio o Hawai`i nei

Mau ke aloha, no Hawai`i

E ha`i mai kou mau kini lani e
Kou mau kupa aloha, e Hawai`i
Na mea `ölino kamaha`o no luna mai
E Hawai`i aloha e
