Oh yes, that's why the cost of living is so high, the minute the ship pulls in the price goes up. There are people who want the bus drivers to dump the union. I have lived here for 19 years. People just do not protest, there is this attitude that no one wants to hurt anyone else's feelings, don't rock the boat. There was one state senator who beat his wife up and threw her down the stairs and still got reelected. Oh, but put some cops in a van with radar to catch speeders, and people come out of the woodwork complaining. The fact that their children are getting a lousy education doesn't seem to bother them. You know, a long time ago there was a protest at the state capitol. There were plans to close the International Marketplace in Waikiki and build a hotel. The owners of the booths (mostly Korean) went to the capitol building, made signs by slashing their arms and writing in their blood. Now don't misunderstand me when I mention they were Korean, what I am saying is they went and protested, not the way one would want, but at least they did something, and the International Marketplace, in all its tackiness, is still there.
Well, I have been venting too long. Now have to go check on the hurricane. Pele
