What is the name of your state? arizona
i was divorced in california over 20 years ago, but kept my married last name because of the children. i now want to go back to my maiden name but don't know how to go about it legally. i had contacted social security, and they said they need a copy of my divorce papers, but i never specified going back to my maiden name then. what steps must i take?

My response:

It all begins with your filing a "Petition for Name Change."

We don't do "steps."
