Hey guys, a little late but just an update.

Looks like the guy decided to register a mechanic's lien against my house. ha

I did some researching and it looks like anyone can do that and it's up to the defender (me) to get it taken off, costing time and money for nothing at all.

Well this entire time I've been saying "me" for the sake of simplicity, but really this problem is happening to my father in law.
He just doesn't use the computer. ha

Well anyway so here's what my father in law did.
After researching it, he found that a mechanic's lien will hinder any attempts at refinancing or selling a house.

So he tried to refinance his house for a lower interest rate with the idea that when they run his house, they will see this lien and decline to refinance it.
When that happens, my pop-in-law now has a monetary value on how this is affecting him and can use that in court if need be. (i.e. the guy doesn't remove the lien)
