Hello,
As a permanent resident with a green card, I plan on marrying someone of similar status, and we both want to changed my last name to my fiance's family name after marriage. Could you please explain the method and the form(s) I need to fill out to update my family name on the green card? Your advice will be much appreciated. Thank you.

In my state, I only needed to indicate on my marriage license that I intended to take my husband's name. I am not in your state, though, so YMMV.

According to the US Citizenship and Immigration Services website, you will need to file an I-90 to change your name on your green card.

Sorry, I wasn't thinking about the difference between a green card holder (the OP) and a dual citizen (me).
