Did the dealer give you the NTN and tell you how to appeal the denial? A lot of law-enforcement agencies send info to the FBI that will disqualify you, such as an arrest or felony charges, but they don't let the FBI know if the case is dropped. So NICS may be showing an open felony case against you for an unregistered Title II firearm charge.
I got denied when purchasing an AK-47. I was caught with a gun when I was 19 with a silencer but the charges were dropped, I thought. I'm in Ohio. Anyone out there that can help me figure this out?
You can appeal the denial. Ignore advice to seal the records. 18 USC 921 reads "Any conviction which has been expunged, or set aside or for which a person has been pardoned or has had civil rights restored shall not be considered a conviction for purposes of this chapter ". Notice the word "sealed" is not included.
