Hearing in front of referee. What to expect

What is the name of your state?michigan. I filed summons and complaint and complaint for custody of my five month old son our first court date is set in front of a referee who (from what I read) sets a recommendation for the judge as far as custody and parenting time. I'm wondering what documents or statements I can make to the referee to help my case. I have looked at all the "points of interest" that is supposed to be used to determine custody. I have a letter from my employer saying they will work around anytime I am with my son. Will a referee accept this letter? Anything else at all that can help me get the most time possible with my son? Any advice will help. Thanks

Given you don't really tell us what sort of custody/parenting time you're looking at... it's hard to say.

But, you should include anything that shows your SuperParentness. Do you take the child to the doctor? To daycare? Do you feed, bathe, put the child to bed? How can you show that? Your statement from your employer is nice, but a lot depends on what you're looking for and how they intend to "work with you"... working around EOW is quite different from 50/50 or primary parenting. Being specific is important. There is a huge difference between working with you to let you pick up baby at 3pm every other Friday, letting you work from home on a 50/50 basis, and letting you leave at a moment's notice when daycare calls about a sick child...What support system do you have? Suppose you're caught up late at work, or have a car accident on the way to p/u kiddo, etc. - who can you call?

I'm sorry. I'm asking for joint physical and legal custody. 3.5 days with my son a week. I have now gone 23 days without seeing my son because she is keeping him from me for no reason whatsoever. And apparently it is legal for her to do this. I did sign affidavit of parenting and birth certificate but this still gives me no legal custody untill I go through the court process. First hearing is in four days in front of a referee which I'm still having a hard time understanding what exactly happebs at this hearing

Your son is 5 months old. What you are proposing is actually great for you, and really horrible for your infant child. All of that back and forth is really hard on an infant. Your odds of a judge ordering that are not strong.
