My friend is an elderly sickly woman residing in CT. She has been left a sum of money by a relative living in VT, There are two problems: 1)she is too ill to travel to handle the legal arrangements, and 2)she has no bank account to cash the check. Her brohter has offered to collect her money and pay her the cash. How can this be accomplished?

Sounds as if she needs a Will herself and someone to trust to get the money -- with the check in hand, however, she can open a bank account.
