OP has no legal grounds to force disclosure of named beneficiary based upon information provided.
Since Don wants to play this game, he should at least offer direction to allow such a disclosure in the event he is correct. His suggestion of :
If your mother had an estate that was probated, go to the county courthouse probate court and look at the file to find out the name of the estate executor or administrator. It is my understanding that normally the insurance companies will not release the beneficiary information to anyone other than the executor/administrator of the estate, although I do not know that for certain. They might release it to interested, immediate next-of-kin.
is total BS and will not result in release of the sought information.
So Don, want to provide some helpful information or does somebody else have to do that for you as well.
In truth, this has nothing to do with who was the bene. If OP believes the guardian is acting improperly, there are systems in place to address that but it is not going to make any dofference to know who the bene is for those actions.
