When you file for divorce, she will have to account for the money in that joint account during asset division. If she used it to cover household expenses over the time of separation, that is ok. If she used it to buy her boyfriend a rolex, that's dissipation of marital assets.

I suggest you save up over the next year so you can have a lawyer for your divorce.

Ohiogal. I am sure you meant well with your advice. I seriously doubt she "moved in with a new boyfriend", even if she has one. I was asking serious questions about monetary issues and was looking for advice on those matters specifically. Luckily, I found my answers elsewhere and now know how to go about resolving that matter.

No wonder lawyers get such a bad rap.....Laugh about that one Eekamouse....What a a world we live in.....

OG asked the question for a good reason. Too bad you aren't interested in knowing what it was.

It is amazing that people here want to propose their own ideas rather than answer a question....when people ask a question on the "free advice" website, they are looking for specific answers to the questions they asked, not some ramblings and further inspection from some chick in Ohio...get a life...

This actually proves that if you did go elsewhere, you were told the same thing as you've been told here.

And uh...the "chick" in Ohio?

She's an attorney. Who has more legal knowledge in the nail clippings of her right pinkie than you'll have in a lifetime.

I'm jes' sayin'.

Actually, I learned that I will file for Equitable Distribution of Property after the Divorce is actually filed, at which time there will be an accounting of the marital assets @ the time of separation and then there will be an equitable distribution of those assets.

That was the correct answer to my question and I found it out myself with no help from Ohiogals nail clippings !!!!!!!!!!!.....TOUCHE !!!!
