What happens if I'm late with the rent in VT and I move out.
Any number of thousands of things might happen, but the most obvious would be that your landlord might apply your security deposit against unpaid rent and sue you.
The only address the landlord has for me is in CT. Can he sue me in CT?
We have no reason to believe he/she/it lacks this ability.
If someone doesn't pay the rent on time they may be subject to eviction but there is a moratorium on evictions both in VT law and Federal.
So how does that work.
You're asking us to explain what a moratorium is? Are you not capable of googling "vermont residential eviction moratorium" or things like it?
The 3rd part of the question is; Can he file for eviction if we are already moved out.
If the tenant abandons the premises, the landlord will eventually be able to enter and retake possession without the need for eviction.
I thought he could not sue in small claims court in CT for a case in VT.
This doesn't make any sense. If the landlord sued in CT, then the case would be in CT. If you're suggesting that the landlord couldn't sue in CT for a debt arising out of a landlord-tenant relationship that occurred in VT, that's wrong.
