I'm being sued for an eBay seller from a different state

Accident - Bankruptcy - Criminal Law / DUI - Business - Consumer - Employment - Family - Immigration - Real Estate - Tax - Traffic - Wills   Please click a topic or scroll down for more.

I don’t know what to think anymore, since I’m been sued for such a stupid amount, 475.000 (four hundred and seventy five thousand dollars) is suppose to be unlimited jurisdiction. Does this mean that CA court has jurisdiction over me?
The "unlimited jurisdiction" here refers to the dollar amount ($475,000.00) of the requested damages. Some lower courts have a maximum dollar amount that they can handle. California Superior Court has no maximum limit for dollar amount.

Correct, small claims court is 5,000 dollars except in California where it is 7,500

What exactly is the seller trying to claim. Can you give us a summary of what he wrote on the complaint that was sent with the summons.

I am confused on what some others wrote - This is not a breach of contract / failure to pay.
The Plaintiff is aledging that the feed back caused harm to his reputation. He is also seeking damaged as a result of ebay preventing him from selling on eBay - even though he is not a merchant seller.. What is the ebay name?

You're right, those are his arguments, the bad feedback and the impossibility to sell until he pays what he is suppose to pay.

He is no longer an eBay member.
