What is the name of your state (only U.S. law)?
california

A friend of mine recently lost his mother and father in a car accident. His father had a considerable amount of properties here in ca. and in Mexico. His father had divorced his mother years ago. It was his fathers intention for his properties to be split between him and his step mothers children. It appears his step mothers children have a different plan. The stepmothers (84) daughter has taken control of all the financial affairs including taking over $100,000 out of his father personal account. No one seems to know if the properties written under "Right of survivor" or what. The daughter has taken the stepmother to Mexico making it difficult to communicate. His father and stepmother both resided here in the U.S. and had dual citizenship he believes.

The bottom line is he needs an attorney now. He is having a hard time with how to go about searching for an attorney who is willing to take a case like this where it may get into international law. Phone book is not much help.

He didn't look very hard. It took me all of about 10 seconds to find International Practice Group in San Diego -
