Internet scam?

What is the name of your state? IL
So my wife was browsing some Japanese porn site. She clicks on a picture on the front page, all of the sudden she is taken to a page that says this website has our computers I.P. number, and she had joined the site, So if we don't pay the membership fee within two days they'll send a collection agency against us. Thing is, the site is 48,000 yen, or about $480 american, for 180 days. It said on the site in small print on the top that if you clicked on an image you were consenting to joining the site. I want to refuse to pay, but my wife is still awaiting her green card and doesn't want to get into any legal trouble, especially with her home country. Is there anything I can do ?

Ignore them

Ignore the scam.

they just try to get foolish people to send them money. Do you really think a japanese porn company is going to sue you in the US for $480. First they would have to subpoena your ISP to find out your identity. Esp when you can claim:
1. They have the wrong IP address.
2. It was your 16 year old child (who cannot enter into an illegal contract)
3. There was no notice on the image.
4. The notice was written in a language you did not understand.
5. lots of others.

It would cost them far monre than $480 to pursue a case against you.
