Unfortunately what other posters are saying is true. And to add to that, even when there is bruising left they base it on the severity of it.

My husbands daughter NOT even 2 years old October 2, 2006 and November 1, 2006 had bruising on the backs of both her legs below her diaper. Also light bruises on her bottom. The bruises on her legs were what appeared to be an adult handprint (palm and fingers). My husband called CPS both incidents. Both Mother and Mother's live in b/f admitted to spanking the her the night before for getting "out of her BED". The CPS worker, Deputy, Nurses and Doctor at the CAC all said thats what it appeared to be as well.. Both cases have been closed with indicators of possible abuse.

Also on November 1, 2006 along with the bruises on the backs of her legs and bottom she also had a black eye. Of course NO one knew HOW she got that. Along with a 2 1/2" burn on the arch of her foot. Again No one knows how she got it.

I have to agree there is nothing wrong with spanking a child. But when it is to the extent of leaving bruises. That in my opinion is unacceptable.
