My family sings it this way:

Happy Birthday to you
You belong in the zoo
You look like an elephant
And you smell like one, too.

We call each other up every year and sing it on the phone that way.

What are you, British?! Every British child is taught how to sing "Happy Birthday" properly, and you have just done so yourself.

Of course the lyrics change just a smidge when we hit high school ...

Oh, btw: it appears the song is still under copyright protection in Britain (and I believe a few other places as well) Still no happy birthday for you if you are in the UK.
