What is the name of your state?OH

Just wanted to let anyone who was interested know, who remembers my situation with msdad.

Just an FYI we got the ruling on my son's name change. The judge ruled in our favor. However, I fully expect an objection to it. He has 14 days to do it. And of course there is still the joint custody hearings to look forward to.

Thanks for the support everyone gave. If desired I'll let you guys know what happens when everything is over.
Thanks again!

Normally I don't encourage parents to object to children having their father's name~ But in your case, your son has his FATHERs name now. Congratulations! :)

Yes, I wrote that in many many posts to msdad- and *IMO* was one of the determining factors for the judge. (That and the absence of the bio father for all those years!) LOL So glad to hear he got his assinine request handed back to him in court. :p

Let's just hope that if he (pretty sure he will) objects they don't change the ruling because of the custody hearings. They are in two different courts though. Name change is probate and custody is juvenile.

I can't seem to log out. It's saying "unable to add cookies, header already sent" Anyone have a suggestion on how I can log out?

thanks

Thanks, there was something wrong with my pc. Sometimes I can be a computer moron.

Just a quick question. How much do judges typically rely on the testimony of a child psychologist?
thanks

I can make an Impact on the way the Judge rules .

In the cases I have been involved in , that aspect has always been a contributing factor .

Thanks, that's what we are hoping for. The psychologist is well known and respected in our court system, and has opinions that I would love the judge to consider. It's really the biggest part of our case. (msdad knows this, that's why I'm not worried about posting it) That and msdad's record.
thanks

First off CONGRATS!! That is awesome to hear!

Secondly, although you seem sure that he's going to fight the ruling and you say there are custody issues at hand, I wonder if you think since he lost this round if he might drop things completely? Do you think there's a chance? I mean yes, I read his posts and I do believe none of it had to do with his son but more about revenge on you but do you think there's a chance that he might just quit now?

I'm not sure he's smart enough for that. LOL
But since she read his postings here~ I hope she asks for hair follicle drug testing and complete financial disclosure :D

I doubt it. He's bootstraping me with his rights, to get his mom some kind of visitation. I never stopped visitation between my son and her in the first place. But that's what was said at our last hearing that he wanted. We asked for the stepparent adoption, and his lawyer seemed surprised that that was on the table. It always was, I let go of my last attorney because he would not say that that was what we wanted all along, after we met the marraige requirement (length) So we'll see if he'll allow it or not. We can't try to terminate now because he filed for joint custody. But his mother is funding all of his requests, so it might go further than even he would like. who knows?? I'm baffled by the whole thing really.

Well, if his mom is funding things then that's a bit different. However, check into your state statutes and see if for TPR there has to be contact AND support. You might have to let it go a while... let him pull his stunts and then see if he actually exercises his visitation if he gets joint custody. If in fact he does get joint custody, a little advice. Follow that court order TO THE LETTER. Have it put in there that HE has to pick the child up and drop him off for visitation and no one else, if possible. He might play his mom's game for a little bit but eventually he'll get tired of doing it and if she can't pick up the child then he won't be exercising his visitation. I would also point this out to your lawyer.
