I was awarded judgment against a corporation for breach of contract in the State of Colorado. I live in Ohio and the corporation now resides in Daytona Beach, Fl. I have done some research and know the forms I have to file through the Clerk of courts in Volusia Co. Fl. However, since they will have 30 days to answer the complaint(foreign judgment)would I be smart to go ahead and try to retain a lawyer there. I will be there over the holidays and would have time to go to the clerk of courts office and complete the paper work. I have been told that it is difficult to collect judgments in the State of Florida due to some sort of "protection". Is this fact or mainly rubbish? I didn't see any one listed for the Daytona Beach area. This is a lot of money to me. Over 10,000 in awarded attorney fees and 52000 for myself. HELP Please.
