We rent a house in FL, with 1 yr lease which started 11/1/00 to 10/30/01. The lease is just a standard rental 1 yr lease with no mention of selling the house. When we rented the house the landlady said that they would not put the house up for sale while we were living here. 3 wks ago the landlord put a for sale sign in the front yard and said that they had to sale because of their mortgage pmt. What are our options? Do we have to set here and wait for the sale and the landlord give us so many days to move or do we have other options? Thank you for your help.

Well you are VERY LUCKY........

Since a lease is a lease and you have the legal right to live there till it expires.... NO ONE can force you to leave....PERIOD!

The lease and your security gets transferred to the new owner at the closing.

Now if the new owner wants YOU to move, well they will have to PAY YOU TO MOVE!

So you figure what it will cost you.....hiring a moving company..NO UHAUL'S!, deposits, installation costs, days off from work, PLUS ALL of your security back, in a certified check BEFORE you even start looking for a new place, and have it all in writing.

So dont worry, if they want you to move it's for thier convieience and they MUST pay YOU for it!
