Our carpet in our apartment is dirty with stains. Landlord claims that the stains are set in and can not be cleaned. She says the carpet needs to be replaced and costs $1500. I tell her we will steam clean. She says if that is the case a 1 year warranty is required, which is impossible to produce by the steam cleaners (no such thing as a 1 year warranty on a carpet, especially when people live in the apt). The best they can do is give a one month warranty.
Landlord says it's not good enough and will be replacing the carpet regardless. Is this legal?
If I produce proof that the carpet was steam cleaned and have pictures and a clean carpet, can she still go ahead and have the carpet replaced?
Thanks for your time.
