#16 reminded me of outhouse. With his rock hard body of steel. And typing skills of a 2 year old.
omg. i was laughing so hard my 11 year old asked me if i was okay....i hope he doesn't run after the attorney and ask for help.

humus...loved it..:D you made me relax...

okay...so the guy left. he was REAL nice. he wasn't judgemental at all. i've run into alot of court people who get very judgemental with me when they hear NCP's side of the story first. don't even get me started on one probate officer who really thought i hadn't seen my kids in years and had no contact. he asked me for the history of NCP and myself. how we ended up together, why we fell apart...what turned our co-parenting relationship sour. poor guy was writing forever. he didn't inspect the house at all. we sat in the kitchen the whole time. so at least i got a clean house for 2 hours :D

he asked me what i want changed, if there was anything that i had suggested, how was the visitation going, how my relationship with my kids were, how their relationship was with their dad. how my kids relationship with my stbx was. i was honest about everything. i told him about NCP's refusal to sign up with co-parenting classes together. about taking the kids to grandma's house and leaving them there. i tried not to ramble. he was understanding. all honestly, he did it so well, there wasn't a hint of what he may suggest of the courts.

so, now for the hearing on Monday**************anyone have a straight jacket handy?

okay, so the hearing was yesterday. i took a day to digest it all.

No change of custody was recommended. minor's attorney wanted us to sign up for the courts co-parenting class befroe court, but turns out funding is low so the classes got postponed. so the judge mentioned going to therapy instead. we'll see how that works out. i will say minor's attorney did push for the therapy to be close to my home. judge agreed. i really like that guy :p.

then NCP wants to increase his visitation as he plans on taking more time off of work so he can spend more time with the kids, MA asked if NCP if he had the time available now, NCP said no. MA said address the issue when you actually have the time available.

NCP brought up the issue of glasses. 11 year old lost his glasses at grandma's house. I didn't replace them fast enough. those things were $250.00. cheapest frames too. i couldn't pay for them all at once. as the 6 year old had lost his on my time too. NCP refused to help. so i had to wait aa week. no big deal they were replaced before the MA came over anyway. NCP tried to make it an issue. Judge gave him a lashing. said "you replace them". NCP asked for a child support decrease based on that comment because now he doesn't have any money left for himself. Judge gave him a dirty look. (i choked, i heard OG in my head). MA piped up and said both kids had on their glasses when he came over.

NCP tried to bring up a fews other issues, judge yelled at him for being silly, MA even told him to hush about some issue over hair gel he bought for 11 year old and had him sneak in the house..

the only thing i didn't like was the MA kept telling me that next year 11 year old gets to decide where he wants to live since he will be 12 and he wants to live with his dad. i didn't appreciate that. because i know that's not true. 11 year old gets to get considered based on best interest. if that's exactly what he told NCP, then NCP will be plying the 11 year old to get him to want to move. 11 year old gets to stay up till 11 watching TV, he doesn't have to do homework, he gets to go to grandma's house and stay there while dad is working (which is against the court order) which is going to put the 6 year old back where he was emotionally from being seperated from both mom and dad.

maybe it's just me, but doesn't telling parents that, only put pressure on the parents to stop being parents and try too hard to spoil them so they want to stay with one parent over the other?

Particularly in a case where custody is contested, I think its incredibly stupid for a court professional to allow either parent to think that the child gets to "choose". I don't blame you for being irked over that.

Seriously. And, the fact that you have custody of both kids, and the judge isn't going to separate them - so why even put this suggestion into the kid's mind? Or the NCP's mind?

you know, i guess i just have to lok at is as knowing what dad will do in Oct once the 11 year old turns 12.

my first instinct was to jump all over the guy. but i smiled, he's been great for the kids so far. so my response came out with, "you mean their opinion is considered based on best interest of the child". he said, "no, at 12, he gets to decide and the courts will listen to him" i shut up at that point and smiled. :D....so i'll be using the recycling money for savings for an attorney in Oct when and if NCP files.

Just be prepared and go forth with the knowledge that YOU were correct. ;)

I did like the report on everything else, though. You should have secreted in a camera so you could share the judge's looks directed at your ex.

I love my little Sony Clié. It has a camera (still and motion), a digital recorder and a few games on it to keep me entertained while I'm waiting during court. ;)

:(every bailiff i've come across will not allow any device to be turned on. no reading of books, no newspapers (but those are noisey anyway), not even a PSP with the sound turned off!!!

All they ask at the local county court house is that you turn off the cell phone ringers when in the courtroom. Shoot, I've even taken a book in with me. Better to be occupied than not.:p

about the glasses, there are several on-line places you can get your glass from... my boss LOVES 39dollarglasses.com... he has bought several pairs and sunglasses from them... and you really can get frames and lenses for $39... might want to buy a spare for your son...

If anyone is interested in the reason why (I guess, you Isabella :p) that is it's because of an incident that happens some years back.

Someone had a rigged cell phone (actually a gun that looked like a cell phone) that was able to shoot bullets. They got it into one of the courthouses. In that same period of time, someone else took a camera phone into a courtroom and started to film stuff that shouldn't have made it to the public. Scandals abound.

It was then written into the local rules that recording devices, cell phones, etc. were no longer permitted into the courthouses. However someone got smart and realized that was a bit of overkill. It's still written into the rules (for selective enforcement), but cell phones are allowed (because they're so darn commonplace), however they now even make you put those through the weapons screening device.

If they catch you using a camera in court... you're toast.
