I'm not playing games. Those "olden times" were 15-20 years ago, and no, I don't think it was ok. Both parties were very selfish. The girls did not think about the legal risk for their BF, and the guys did not think about the potential legal expenses of their parents if they will find themselves prosecuted.
Then why are you implying to OP that it's OK?

I'm really sorry, but I know at least 3 couples that started to date when he was 17-18 and she was 14. They all are married 15-20 years already and have kids.
And there are a lot of 14 y.o. girls that are not an airhead type and can be very nice significant other for a 17-18 y.o. guy.
So instead of you, I would not be so "i know every thing in the world".
I was in such a relationship, back when dinosaurs roamed the earth. I would like to think I was not an airhead type. I went to school every day, didn't get in any trouble and had decent, nice friends which whom I attended church every week. Never did start smoking and drinking, even as an adult.

However, I was 15 and thinking like a 15 year old. I had no idea what I was getting into. I didn't have the adult perspective to see the nonsense this guy was handing me. I was just so thrilled that this adult thought I was something special. Then, one day, I wasn't so special, to him at least.

That was 40 years ago and I'm still shaking my head over it.

No, I'm just trying to show the whole picture. Teens are not buying black and white propaganda. They are much more sophisticated than we think.
Cool. Then the site you are looking for is www.helpingadultsfeelbetteraboutschtupingchildren.com... it maybe .org now.

The law IS black and white on this issue. Maybe you missed the signs on the way in... but this is a legal site.

The surest way to get your happy butt banned here is to start giving out advice you THINK should be proper that is in direct opposition to statutory law.

Now then, just apologize to the little girl, tell her you were completely and utterly wrong from a legal standpoint and then we can get on to doing something that is actually worthy of our time.

Or leave and don't come back. I am good with either.

Where did I tell her to go and have sex with him? And if we are really in legal forum, can you please show me a legal statement or a law that talking exactly about "he wants only sex from you", as your long tirade? Because, you know, the reasons for statutory rape laws are much wider.

My statements, while emotionally laden, also COMPLETELY fell in line with both statutory and case law.

What I was doing, cupcake, was making sure the little girl KNEW it wasn't a good thing to get involved with an older guy she met on the internet.

You, on the other hand, told her that it really was okay because you knew all these people where it worked out just fine. You know.. where everything is just ducky and she is probably all mature and this predator she met on line is probably a great significant other. Remember that? I can post it for you if you like.

You are wrong. 100%. As in not even a bit right. If you do not admit that in your very next post, I start to report you and I will do every thing in my power to get you banned.

Is that clear enough for you?

If you want to spout incorrect legal information to FRIGGING CHILDREN, do it somewhere else.

Now, may I suggest you start your very next post with the words, "OP, I am terribly sorry for what I said if it lead you to believe for even one second that this relationship you are contemplating is correct and/or legal in any way."

Work from there.

One more thing, jerk....

In case you didn't notice, the title of the thread is "Laws of Statutory Rape Between States".

If you don't read closely enough to understand that what was being discussed was SEX between the little girl and the predator, that also isn't my problem.

You can report me as you like:D We have freedom of speech in this great country, and I have the full right to be emotional as you are, especially when you are lying about "100% they want only sex" and think that she will buy it while being in love:D
The only thing that will stop a teenager in love is the fact that her BF may serve time in jail because of her.
And yes, those relationships are not legal, as I told her. But we both don't know if they correct or not. And I'm not going to lie like you, or stand aside and see how you lying.

That's where you're wrong, dolt. This is a private website with a stated TOS you agreed to when you became a member. The first amendment doesn't apply here and anyone with a three digit IQ and passing knowledge of the law knows that when they sign up.

And for the record, I never liked Hannah Montana or Miley Cyrus.

Sophisticated? What's that mean?

While they might be technically savvy, that does not imply that they are mature. It is this lack of maturity - and wisdom - that causes the problems and puts the child at risk.

Yes, there may be some relationships that begin with a 14 or 15 year old girl and an 18+ guy, but after high school these are rare and statistically doomed to failure.

Oh, and in most states these relationships - if sexual - are unlawful.

And crossing state lines so he can tell her how mature and smart and wonderful she is before schtupping her....then you starting wandering around in the forest of human trafficking and child exploitation**************..

The feds kind of frown on those actions.

NikiHarlequin, if you are still reading this, please reconsider running away to meet this person.

If you do, and he turns out to be someone else, please run into the street and flag down the first cop car you see. The cops will keep you safe and help you return home.

Remember, your parents most likely want you to be safe.
