What is the name of your state? Missouri

I also posted this on the Healthcare and HMO board, but didn't know if this would be a better palce...

My 15 year old son was in a car accident and taken by Life Flight to the hospital. He never regained consciousness and was pronounced DOA. The Life Flight company is out of network, but we never had an opportunity to even question if they were in-network or not (and wouldn't have anyway, as this could have been his only chance of survival). I have searched through my benefits book looking for a clause about life or death emergencies, as I thought I had seen one before, but am unable to find it. The insurance company only says I can appeal the decision to pay just out of network cost. Any help on this??? Thanks for any help!

Since it was a life or death emergency, I am sure the helicopter took your son to the nearest facility for medical treatment.
You had probably little or no control over this... and at a time like that, few people are going to be thinking "gee, will my insurance pay for this"

You can and should appeal.
