....... when I mentioned it to the majority of people I know they were also under the impression that deducting the time from "OT rate" was "crazy" and "not right". I stand corrected if this is the way things are and I appreciate all the feedback..
Of COURSE if you're telling people that 3 hours is being deducted from the OT rate they're going to say it's not right. But I'm concerned that you're still not getting it. No one is deducting time from the OT rate. That's not the way it works.

It's great that you're concerned about your dad. But instead of getting him riled up about how they're screwing him over, tell him to take a lunch break. Every day.

It depends. If he requires a CDL, then anything over 12 hour days is subject to the rest rules regardless of how many miles away he goes.
If he doesn't require a CDL, then he gets 150 miles, but still if he puts in multiple longer days, he can still be subject to the rule.

But they're not required to maintain a logbook and without that enforcement is almost impossible.

Some responses I can't entertain but this one I will. Yes I understand its simple I get it as I mentioned before. Additionally no that is not what he was telling his friends / co buddies at work. He simply asked the same questions to them, they created the interpretation of the deduction.

Furthermore, yes my Dad is looking for another job and yes he has asked the union multiple times and they shut the door, no answer. Have some of you ever worked for a union? Many moons ago I worked for 32BJ and they were garbage, never helped me EVER unless I persisted like a savage. Even then it was never the help or clarity myself or coworkers were looking for. I, nor any other human should not have to claw and scratch for answers from a union.

To add to some other questions, the job requires a CDL B license.
