I know plenty of divorced folks in many different states who got remarried and their prior marriage never came up or was a non-issue.

I don't think it's anything to worry about. When you get to that point you can certainly make inquiries with the local licensing authority and if their answer isn't suitable try somewhere else.

Followup: Santa Clara County happily sent me a certified copy of the Marin County documents that the Marin Clerk claimed don't exist
